About Perkiomen Valley Trout Unlimited
Perkiomen Valley Trout Unlimited (PVTU) is a Chapter of Trout Unlimited a national Non-profit Corporation dedicated to the Preservation Protection and Conservation of our cold water fisheries and wild trout streams. The Perkiomen Watershed has over 15 miles of water designated by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission as having wild brown trout.PVTU is dediced to the protection and preservation of the watershed.
Our Mission
Perkiomen Creek, our chapter's namesake is the main focus of today's restoration efforts, in an attempt to extend a growing wild trout population. By working with landowners, state and local leaders, and other state organizations, Perkiomen Valley Trout Unlimited has had great of success in restoring key tributaries of the Perkiomen, through several miles of tree plantings, streambank restoration and structure, educating communities and landowners on best land management practices. Now comprised of about 200 members the chapter is working hard to complete the major work of restoring stream banks and water quality. Water quality has already improved enough in the main branch that a noticeable difference has been recorded in the water quality of the Green Lane Reservoir. As we move forward the goal is to extend the current high quality wild trout water to the reservoir and promote the recreational value of the watershed.
